Plastic fantastic: Latvia is recycling leader of Europe

According to new Eurostat figures, in 2024, the EU recycled 42.4% of all the generated plastic packaging waste, indicating a small increase in the recycling rate compared with 2023 (41.6%).

Among EU countries, Latvia recorded the highest recycling rate at 71.0%, followed by Belgium (58.2%), Poland (56.0%) and Czechia (53.7%).

In contrast, the lowest rates were recorded in Denmark (22.5%), Finland (26.9%) and France (27.4%).
