With air temperatures rising to around +26 degrees, records were broken in Mērsrags, Priekuļi and Rūjiena, whilst at the Jelgava observation station the record was equalled at +27.3 degrees.
These are the first temperature records to be broken in the country since 31 July. A total of 156 heat records have been broken this year, 123 of them in March. In February, 19 new cold records were recorded.
