State Police officers in Ābeļi parish stopped a Mercedes Benz car driven by a Polish citizen. During the stop, six persons fled and ran into the nearby forest.
A search was immediately launched, including involving a dog handler with a service dog and a drone but only three persons without valid travel documents and valid visas or residence permits, who had previously illegally crossed the Belarusian-Latvian border, were found. Their nationalities were not stated.
