Unplanned traffic jams
The capital woke up on Tuesday to severe traffic jams, particularly around Old Rīga. Motorists were greatly surprised to find the 11 November Embankment closed. No advance notice of the closure had been given, either on social media or via road signs. This resulted in considerable chaos at the barriers and longer journey times for residents.
