The accused carried out a total of four arson attacks on Latvian railway facilities – electrical distribution cabinets and relays – in October last year and January this year. The main organiser was Oļegs Sverdlovs, who, whilst in prison, received orders to carry out acts of sabotage and enlisted Arnis Jansons to help him carry them out. He, in turn, carried out the arson attacks both alone and, on other occasions, with the help of Jurijs Luka and Jurijs Lečenkovs.
