There has been talk for many years now of a regular passenger ferry service between Vecmīlgrāvis, on the right bank of the Daugava, and Bolderāja, on the opposite side of the river, as the nearest place to cross the river by land is the Vanšu Bridge, located right in the centre of Rīga.
At present, it can take up to 1.5 hours to travel by bus from Bolderāja to Vecmīlgrāvis, assuming there are no traffic jams along the way.
